Charles Keeping and I met at art school and began our long and very happy marriage soon after we left there. We moved to Shortlands in 1960, with our children, and have lived and worked in this house ever since.
When Charles became ill in 1987, and died in 1988, I was devastated, and the only uplifting project I could think of, was to start displaying some of his original illustrations on the walls. They looked good so I added some of my paintings, and thought, if we could no longer be together at least our work could.
The project kept me busy, and as the exhibition grew, people started coming to have a look, including classes of school children and I like showing them round.
