This is a picture story about my family. A core theme of my work in the need to assimilate, and being the first generation in a new country and culture, the inevitable problems that this entailed.
Some of the problems were very difficult at the time but with hindsight, I have tried to put a more humorous slant on them. This frieze is worked in a mixed media of fabric, paint and stitch.
It was originally going to be called ‘A Pile of Rubbish’ and presented that way, using the format of packaging, adverts, etc; but of course using my own stories. I changed my mind about the presentation deciding to show it as a frieze.
